The feeling of burning mouth after eating any spicy item like chicken curry or chili sauce is very much familiar to everyone. Most people across the globe love the chilies or sauces made from them. Mouth burning is that after taking the first bite of tasty chili or chili sauce or curry your tongue starts to tingle, cheeks become redden and sweat form on your forehead. Actually this chili burn starts due to a chemical reaction between capsaicin bonds with the pain receptors inside the mouth. Capsaicin or capsaicinoids is a family of molecules found in almost all chili peppers and pain receptors are the same neurons inside the mouth which detects heat.

Most people immediately drink water whenever the mouth burning occur while eating a spicy food. This is wrong because water spreads the capsaicin inside the mouth and resultantly they receive more pain receptors and amp up the burning sensation.
